Pooh Shiesty has had one of the most turbulent years in hip-hop, yet it's led to a promising first-day commercial performance for his new album, All Eyes On Shiest. As caught by Bars on Instagram, the project topped the all-genre Apple Music chart in the United States, beating out recent big releases like Ariana Grande's petal and Karol G's No Me Arrepiento De Sentir Tanto.
This is pretty impressive considering the new LP came out as a relative surprise, with the Memphis rapper dropping a single and album details just a few days before it came out. But it's the first full-length catalog entry in five years, so there was a lot of anticipation. Guests on the project include Sexyy Red, GloRilla, BIG30, the late Tay Keith, Baby Slime, and K Carbon.
We will see how this continues to evolve, both in terms of AEOS' performance and how fans have been reacting to it. Many folks reacted immediately to possible allusions to the Gucci Mane situation, as well as street-related bars and "for entertainment purposes" disclaimers that raised a lot of eyebrows.
But when it comes to the actual music, Shiesty fans seem quite satisfied. Apple Music certainly reflects that, but time will tell if it ends up being a truly resonant release.
Why Is Pooh Shiesty In Jail?
For those unaware, Pooh Shiesty is currently behind bars for allegedly kidnapping and robbing Gucci Mane alongside Pooh's father, Big30, and other alleged perpetrators. A judge recently rejected Shiesty's bond proposal in the case, so it seems like he will remain in prison up to the trial. Things could change quick, but it's been an uphill battle for him so far.
But for fans hoping for an update from Pooh Shiesty himself, an audio message from him emerged online this week. It's his first spoken and public statement since his arrest over the Guwop allegations.
"This is the one that's bigger than the program," Shiesty shared. "Ain't s**t changed but the environment. We got new music on the way. This s**t for the fans, this s**t for everybody who been waiting… I don't give a f**k about what no n***a got to say, what no n***a think they know what's going on… I'ma shake back. It ain't about how you trip up or how you stumble or how you fall. It's always how you get back up. You know everybody can't get back up…"
