Last night LeBron James and the Miami Heat won their second NBA Championship in a row and join elite company of franchises that have achieved such a feat. Nike had planned for this, and released an ad that featured Drake, Dr. Dre, Spike Lee, and a slew of other celebrity and basketball impresarios congratulating King James on his triumph.
The Heat blewout the Bucks last night, much to the delight of all those in attendance at American Airlines Arena in Miami. One fan sitting courtside received special attention. If you are a Miami Heat detractor (or just a plain ol’ hater) then you’ll enjoy this. Around the league Heat fans are often snickered at for their “Bro Culture” wardrobes and affinity for wearing sunglasses indoors at NBA games, and are often labelled as bandwagoners. Last night as Tony Parker took over down the stretch in the fourth quarter, and LeBron was turning the ball over on consecutive possessions, fans wanting to “beat traffic” starting flocking out of the building in droves.
Speaking about his biggest rivals in the league today, LeBron James says there is no one individual rival for him.
Measuring the greatness of LeBron has shifted from putting him up against Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and Paul Pierce, and is now about seeing how he stacks up against the all-time greatest players. Asked about who he considers his chief rival these days, James doesn't mention Derrick Rose in the East, or Durant out West, and says that he once considered Pierce his toughest rival when he was on his quest for his first championship.
After learning that Ray Allen was not interested in playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers IF he returned this season, it became more likely that he wouldn't be playing at all. Today, the man who LeBron recently passed on the all-time scoring list has announced that he won't be playing in the 2014-15 season.
"Over the past several months, I have taken a lot of time to deliberate what is best for me," Allen said. "I’ve ultimately decided that I will not play this NBA season."
To commemorate their second straight title, the Miami Heat will wear championship gold jerseys on opening night.
October 29th is the night the season opens, and the Heat gets things started against Eastern rival Chicago Bulls. This is also the night LeBron and company receive their rings for the franchise's third championship, and in honor of the event the team will be wearing special alternate jerseys and jackets.

The Miami Heat have been dropping behind the scenes videos on their Instagram page today, beginning with a look at LeBron James going insane in an industrial dungeon while working out. We also received a preview of alternate jerseys the Heat will be rocking this year. Most notable is the new red on red alternate jerseys. Miami has used red jerseys before, but with white lettering. These new red uniforms have red lettering, with only a hint of white outline.
