Thug teased the upcoming collaboration on Instagram Live.

Young Thug is preparing to release new music with Nicki Minaj, according to a statement made on Instagram Live Saturday. "I'll log back on a little later. When I log on I'll be previewing my next single featuring Nicki," he said. As far as we know, the promise was not kept, but the announcement itself is big news for both Thug and Nicki fans.

Last September, Nicki spoke of a collaboration with Young Thug which she said would appear on her fourth studio album. "[I was] so blown away," she said of working with Thug. "I can't wait for people to hear that collaboration." Thug and Nicki have previously collaborated on the "Danny Glover" remix, Juicy J's "Low," and Rae Sremmurd's "Throw Sum Mo."

It is unclear if the song Nicki referred to back then is the same collaboration Thug is now teasing. From Thug's description, it sounds like he will be the lead artist on the track with Nicki appearing as a feature. If that's the case, the song has either been reworked, dropped from Nicki's album, or is another collaboration entirely. There is also the possibility that this is Nicki's single which Thug appears on. Either way, the news should excite fans of Nicki, who has been silent both musically and on social media for the majority of 2018 thus far. Thug fans may also be surprised, as the rapper said in February that he would not be releasing any new music this year to honor his deaf brother.

Nicki has not shared any news of upcoming music. Her long-awaited follow-up to 2014's The Pinkprint is expected to see release in 2018.
