YG, Pusha T & ASAP Rocky on FIRE EMOJI playlist

Thank God for new music Fridays.

There was some stuff that happened during the week, but then Pusha T dropped DAYTONA. Even A$AP Rocky wasn't entirely safe or sheltered from the lyrical weight of Pusha T nor production mastermind that is Kanye West. No shade, his album is still spurring trends and starting conversations, but it still seems like Pusha is the King of the day. If there was any ever doubt that Push is "your favorite rapper's favorite rapper" type of artist, then it is now fully realized and proven. Given Pusha T's DAYTONA is only seven songs, we could have very well put the entire project on FIRE EMOJI, but we opted for the menacing album opener "If You Know You Know" and the dichotomic "What Would Meek Do?" which we broke down for further analysis here.

On A$AP Rocky though -- Testing is an entirely different type of food for which fans can whet their palettes. Where DAYTONA sees calculated and precise production, with bars to match, Testing is a free-wheeling thought and sound experiment. From that opus, we've plucked out the Skepta-featuring "Praise the Lord," a song that verges on audio cartoon, as well as the album's closer "Purity" with the elusive Frank Ocean

Now we've spent two paragraphs merely scratching the surface of this week's edition of FIRE EMOJI. As you may or may not know, the playlist is updated on a rolling basis, daily, and thus, through out the week it's been building into its final form: below. We filter out older records into the FIRE EMOJI playlist archive here, while we curate the current FIRE EMOJI playlist so you need not skip a beat.

This TGIF (and lest we forget, long weekend!!) edition of FIRE EMOJI also contains music from Boogie (this Shady Music signee is definitely up to something, soon), Denzel Curry (the anti-percs anthem), Zaytoven, YG, Jorja Smith, Belly, and the who's who of names goes on. Press play below. Happy weekend, whether it is long or short, to all.
