Last March, Lil Yachty released Lil Boat 2, the follow up to his breakout mixtape which was highly anticipated. The project was a step in the right direction for Yachty, who is often criticized for his lack of lyrical ability. He addressed the issue head-on by stepping up his pen game for Lil Boat 2, but also spent quite a bit of time on the album harmonizing. The project featured Trippie Redd, Offset, 2 Chainz, Lil Pump, Quavo, and more, and it debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Yachty's most recent album, entitled Nuthin 2 Prove, came out in October.
Now, Yachty is cooking up a threequel project entitled Lil Boat 3, and he dropped a teaser for the album on his Instagram Sunday (May 5). The teaser video is just a slow-motion shot of Yachty in a studio, but the song snippet sounds like it should be his next single. "I left out of school without mama's permission/They wanted me dead, they been hoping and wishing/I'm stealing your bags when I'm put in position/I'm dressed in all white like a chef in the kitchen," Yachty raps over a rattling bass that sounds both sinister and inviting. The video ends with "LB3 Coming Soon" sprawled across the screen. "I just wanna win.. And it’s time again," is the caption Yachty added to the video post.
