Lil Wayne's "Dedication 6:" The Internet Reacts To Weezy's New Mixtape

In case you missed last night's Christmas miracle, Lil Wayne gave his fans the best gift they could ever ask for: a new mixtape.

Dedication 6 features the legendary rapper spitting bars over the instrumentals to many of the biggest songs of the year, including Lil Uzi Vert's "XO Tour Llif3" and Post Malone and 21 Savage's "rockstar." After the gifts had been unwrapped and the turkey consumed, many hip-hop heads turned their attention to this Wayne release and, suffice it to say, the reaction was overwhelmingly positive.

Any rumblings that Weezy, who made his debut back in 1999 with The Block Is Hot, is or was over the hill prior to Dedication 6 dropping yesterday seem to have been quelled for the most part on social media, where the hashtag dedicated to his album continues to showcase an outpouring of enthusiasm for the rapper's latest offering. In fact, there are some to who counter that theory with one of their own, which is that Wayne never stopped being great. Check out a sampling of the reaction below.

Some took things a step further and put forth the notion that several Twitter users who were talking about the album were not even "true fans" of the New Orleans native, once again putting into words the divide that seems to exist between older heads and a younger generation of listeners who are discovering Weezy and his back catalog for the first time.
