This weekend, BlumHouse and Universal creation Halloween grossed $32 million across 3,990 theaers in its second weekend at the box office, finishing at No. 1 and bringing its domestic tally to $126.7 million, making it the top-grossing R-rated horror film since It arrived last year. This weekend marked a drop of 58 percent for the film, which is still a notable performance for a horror flick. It's a dip cushioned by the fact that it arrived in several IMAX theaters following the failure of astronaut film First Man to launch.
Not adjusted for inflation, it also indicated one of the best showings for the category in all of history. Behind Get Out and Split, Halloween now becomes BlumHouse's third top-grossing film--impressive news for the $10 million budget attached to the film.
Following behind at No. 2 is Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's A Star Is Born which stays at No. 2 with $14.1 million across 3,904 locations in North America, reaching a domestic tally of $148.7 million. Meanwhile Sony's Venom comes through at No. 3 with a domestic pull of $10.8 million, to bring its North American count to $187 million.
As we get closer to the actual Halloween holiday, moviegoers have continued to get their fill of related flicks with Sony's Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween bringing in $7.5 million in its third weekend for a total of $38.3 million.
