Catherine O'Hara took on many more iconic roles throughout her decades-long career, from "Beetlejuice" to "The Studio."

The pop culture world woke up to a sad report today (Friday, January 30), as TMZ reports that famed actress Catherine O'Hara has passed away at the age of 71. Folks remember her best for her roles as Kevin's (Macaulay Culkin's) mother in the Home Alone series and as Moira in the sitcom Schitt's Creek, among many other iconic and resonant roles.

Per the outlet, O'Hara passed away on Friday according to two sources with direct knowledge. At press time, the specific cause of death is unknown. According to TMZ, she had a medical emergency at her home in Los Angeles and went to a hospital mere hours before she passed away.

First responders reportedly arrived at the actress' home in Brentwood at around 5AM local time. They took her to the hospital and listed her in serious condition, per the L.A. Fire Department, and medical authorities reportedly pronounced her dead hours later.

As of writing this article, many tributes are pouring in from fans and social media, as well as questions about how this happened. Catherine O'Hara's family has yet to release a statement at press time, but some fans are asking for privacy for the loved ones and well-wishes at this time.

Catherine O'Hara's Roles

Beyond Home Alone and Schitt's Creek, Catherine O'Hara starred in many other big movies and television shows, such as Beetlejuice, After Hours, and Dick Tracy. Animation fans may recognize her voice as Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Most recently, O'Hara also appeared in the Seth Rogen-led show The Studio, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. However, she did not attend the ceremony earlier this year. O'Hara also starred in The Last Of Us, a TV slot that also earned her a Golden Globe nod.

Per a statement from the Toronto native's CAA agency caught by CBS, her family will hold a private celebration of her life. Macaulay Culkin is one of many figures from pop culture and beyond that has paid tribute to her, specifically via an Instagram post.

"Mama, I thought we had time," he expressed. "I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you, I heard you. But I had so much more to say. I love you. I'll see you later."
