Lil Pump's been on a winning streak with the release of his highly anticipated debut project The Lil Pump Tape. It was a project that distinguished himself from just being a Soundcloud rapper or even someone who can make a few hot records but not a cohesive project. Mind you, those who follow Lil Pump are dedicated. Today, he makes a major feat with the release of the project.
The Lil Pump Tape debuted on the Top R&B/Hip Hop albums and the Top Rap Albums charts at number 2, according to Billboard's report. The album sold 46K units within it's first week. Considering the necessity of streaming in today's music world, 38K of those units came from streaming which ends up being 56.8 million streams from the album's 15 songs. Individual singles also play a role in the numbers. His hit single "Gucci Gang" jumped up in the Hot Rap Songs category with 20.8 million plays. Two of his other singles, "Boss" and "D. Rose" also made a debut on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop songs chart.
This isn't his first time on the charts since his project dropped. The rapper topped the Billboard's Emerging Artist chart upon the release of his debut mixtape. It's a pretty incredible accomplishment for him. It's the first project he's ever released. Prior to that, he was an artist that gained much of his clout through Soundcloud. It's definitely a dope way to see him make it on the charts.
Aside from his activity on the Billboard, the rapper recently was recently booked to perform at Travis Barker's son's 14th birthday party. From the video footage Travis Barker posted on his Instagram, the party looked lit. His son was on stage with Pump playing the role of hypeman and the two of them are seen turning up a wildly excited crowd to "D. Rose."
Along with the release of his latest album, he's set to embark on a national tour later this fall. The tour kicks off in Los Angeles on Halloween before he wraps up in San Diego on December 23rd.
