Snoop Dogg reflects on "Gin and Juice" losing at the 1995 Grammys in his new audiobook.

Snoop Dogg says that his hit song, “Gin and Juice," losing the award for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1995 Grammy Awards "hurt." However, he says that he felt better after Queen Latifah approached him to praise the song at the event. Snoop recalled the moment during his new Audible audiobook, From Tha Streets To The Suites.

“Queen Latifah approached me about that song,” Snoop Dogg explains in a snippet. “Me and her was nominated for a Grammy for [‘Gin and Juice’] against ‘U.N.I.T.Y..’ She won and I was hurt, but she was like, ‘N***a, I love ‘Gin and Juice.’ That’s my favorite shit.’ So then I got unhurt fast.”

He adds: “You know a motherfucker get hurt ’cause he lose and shit. But I’m like, damn this is the Queen, n***a. Bow down. This is the muthafuckin’ queen, and she told me that. She said: ‘But, I love ‘Gin and Juice,’ that’s my favorite shit.’ So I was like you know what? I can take that L.”

In addition to beating out Snoop's “Gin and Juice," Latifah won the award over Coolio‘s “Fantastic Voyage,” Craig Mack‘s, “Flava In Ya Ear,” and Warren G‘s, “This D.J.” Be on the lookout for more tidbits from Snoop's career when From Tha Streets To The Suites drops on June 15.

From Tha Streets To The Suites isn't the only project Snoop has in the works either. He is also preparing for the release of his upcoming album with Dr. Dre, Missionary. He first announced the project during an appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s Know Mercy podcast, last year. He said at the time: “I’ma tell you this, you’re the first one to hear this: me and Dr. Dre have been working on an album for the past two months. And it’ll be done in November. It’s produced by Dr. Dre, it’s our 30th anniversary to Doggystyle. And the name of the album is Missionary.” While there's no release date, Snoop mentioned that it's "coming soon," just last week.
