Jonathan Majors' legal trouble has not stopped Disney setting a date to release "Loki" Season 2.

Loki has been a smash-hit series of Disney as they expand the MCU further onto the small screen. The show follows the exploits of the eponymous Norse god (Tom Hiddleston) as he is forced to work with the shadowy Time Variance Agency to track down an alternate version of himself. Loki currently has a 91% aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes.

A major character in the show is a mysterious figure known as He Who Remains. Dedicated Marvel fans know that He Who Remains is an alias, or alternative version, of comics supervillain Kang. Kang is about to become very prominent in the wider MCU throughout Phases 5 and 6 as the franchise builds towards 2026's Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, Kang/He Who Remains is currently played by Jonathan Majors, the 33-year-old actor currently in the midst of a legal battle. Allegedly Majors struck and strangled his then-girlfriend in New York. While Majors has denied the charges, Disney is reportedly preparing to recast the character.

"Loki" Season 2 Set For October 6

Disney announced on May 16 that Season 2 of Loki would premiere on Disney+ on October 6. Furthermore, this means that Loki will premiere the same day as Sony's R-rated superhero offering, Kraven the Hunter. However, it remains to be seen how Disney is preparing to handle the Jonathan Majors situation. Majors is set to prominently appear as He Who Remains in Season 2 of Loki. Furthermore, the ongoing writer's strike would make reshoots near-impossible.

But if Disney does choose to recast Kang, what does that mean for Loki? Does that give a hint to the character's fate in the show? For example, does the season end in a way that would allow them to seamlessly replace Majors if that is the decision they eventually make? These are important questions, given that He Who Remains will be so prominent in Loki's second season. However, October is also a long time away and it's unknown where the Jonathan Majors case will be at that point in time. This is a developing story and any updates will be found here on HotNewHipHop.
