Lizzo had some kind words for the often-mocked Canadian rockers.

Is there a bigger musical meme than Nickleback? Despite the band's deep catalog, which dates back to 1996, they are best remembered for being absolutely dunked on. Whether it's "look at this photograph" or just the perceived generic rock they produce, no one talks about Nickleback seriously. Their most infamous hits include Photograph, Rock Star, and How You Remind Me.

In an ideal world, musical memes would all be held in the same regard as Smash Mouth's All Star. However, for every All Star, you have multiple Nicklebacks, Rebecca Blacks, and other musicians memed not so positively. Despite this, it appears that Nickleback has a famous, and very passionate, fan in Lizzo.

Lizzo Questions Why Anyone Could Hate Nickleback

In a 24-second clip shared by Nickleback on social media, Lizzo defends the band while listening to How You Remind Me. "Why don't people like Nickleback?" Lizzo asks at the start of the clip, "I feel like Nickleback gets way too much shit." she continues. She then refers to How You Remind Me as a "jam", saying the song has a "beautiful climax" before energetically singing along with the chorus. The clip ends with Lizzo expressing her love for the song's "beat dropout." It's a charming and passionate defense of the band, of whom Lizzo is clearly a fan.

Nickleback captioned the clip with thanks to Lizzo. "Thank you @lizzo for the kind words!" the tweet began, "Open invite any show any time... maybe see you in Houston this summer?". Lizzo is yet to respond to Nickleback's tweet. By "maybe see you in Houston", Nickleback is presumably referring to their July 23 show in The Woodlands, a northern suburb of Houston. Not to be the bearer of bad news for Nickleback, but unfortunately, Lizzo will be unable to attend. She will be performing in Sydney on July 23. Despite this minor setback, we hope Lizzo and Nickleback are able to link. Maybe there's a secret Grammy-winners meetup we're not allowed to know about. Regardless, Lizzo's support may go a long way to helping change the general perception of the Canadian rockers. Nickleback has some legitimate bangers and they have endured widespread disrespect for far too long.
