Rapper Jeremiah Jae has been active, there's no doubt about it. As a creative, he both produces and writes his own stuff. While these days, it's much more common than it used to, Jeremiah Jae uses both platforms of creativity to push his ideas past the comfort zone. It's experimental in simpler terms. His sound is his sound, it doesn't really sound like anybody right now. With the release of his 2016 tape A Cold Night, he has announced that he'll be dropping a new album very soon called Daffi.
With the announcement of his album, he also delivered his new single "Payne" which came with a visual as well. The video was made by UK artist Ruffmercy, who provides the visual with the next level psychedelic touch it needed to be at par with the equally psychedelic song.
Jae uses a very lo-fi instrumental in the background and layers his laid back flow on top of it. His voice doesn't over power the beat but actually helps bring out the sounds in his production.
With having Ruffmercy do the visuals, he was able to get the proper representation for his song. Ruffmercy is known for his animations and crazy post-production touches that he uses on videos. He was actually the person responsible for "ODB" by Danny Brown and also directed and edited Salva's "Old English" official video featuring Young Thug, Freddie Gibbs and A$AP Ferg.
While Jeremiah Jae has been laying relatively low, this new project he has coming out has been given a proper introduction to the masses with "Payne."
Jae has previously released projects through Warp Records and Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder imprint. While Daffi will be self-released, it will nonetheless be a project worth checking out.
