Released at the beginning of last month, Drake's "One Dance" has reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in its third week on the chart. The single has been even more dominant across the pond, as it has been reported that "One Dance" will spend its third consecutive week atop the U.K. singles chart. In fact, "One Dance" was streamed 7.86 million times in the U.K. last week, which is the highest number of track streams to ever be recorded in a single week, beating the previous record of 7.32 million streams, set by Adele's "Hello" in its first week of release last October.
It's impressive that Drake was able to break Adele's record in her home country, though it's not surprising that "One Dance" was particularly loved by the Brits, as the track borrows many elements of a classic track associated with the genre U.K. funky, the Crazy Cousinz remix of Kyla's "Do You Mind?", released in 2008. Kyla is listed as a feature on the track, as is young Nigerian artist Wizkid, who provided backing vocals. Wizkid had achieved success in the U.K. before a collaboration with Drake and Skepta last summer earned him stateside recognition.
"One Dance" looks to be the hottest Views track at the moment, though the album's next smash hit will likely reveal itself in no time. Drake released "One Dance" as his second single of the year, though it's technically the lead Views single as "Summer Sixteen" was left off of the album.
