Hip Hop artist Freddie Gibbs performs on stage at the SKYY Vodka Stage At Governors Ball - Day 3 at Randall's Island on June 9, 2013 in New York City.

This is the first time Freddie Gibbs will be releasing music through a major label since leaving Interscope.

Pinata fans rejoice! Five years after the release of their critically acclaimed joint project, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib have reunited for the sequel, Bandana. It's been in the making for a while. Gibbs said he was sitting on the project last year, waiting for the right time to release it. The project marks the return of MadGibbs but not only that, but it also marks Gangsta Gibbs return to the majors.

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib just released their song, "Flat Tummy Tea" earlier today which kicked off the campaign for Bandana. As DJ Booth pointed out, the project will mark Freddie Gibbs' first major label deal since leaving Interscope in 2007. The project is set to be released through RCA Records later this year.

"Bandana will be released as a partnership between Keep Cool/RCA Records & Madlib Invazion/ESGN," the press release reads.

Bandana still doesn't have a solid release date yet but it seems quite possible that it could arrive in the coming months. Next month might be ideal since March 18th marks the five-year anniversary since the release of Pinata

If Bandana arrives before June, Gibbs will have successfully released three projects within the span of a year. He released his solo project, Freddie last June. In October, he, Curren$y and Alchemist teamed up for their collaborative project, Fetti.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Bandana release date.
