"Captain Marvel" Has Already Pulled In $160 Million Opening Weekend

"Captain Marvel" marvels at the box office.

At first, it was just estimated that Captain Marvel would pull in $160 million for its opening weekend but now, according to Deadline, the first female-led Marvel film has succeeded its predictions. According to the publication, the film pulled in $62 million on Friday as well as $20.7M Thursday. With screenings currently happening and pre-sale tickets already purchased by many, the movie has already hit its goal coming in as the third best for the month after Beauty and the Beast ($174.7M) and Batman v. Superman ($166M).

The film's lead, Brie Larson, previously opened up about some of the challenges of her role, that revolved around the physical training. 

"Well, the general answer is just getting through a movie like this is a real challenge of everything, of mind, body, and spirit, because it’s a long one, and because I added in the physical side to it. It’s like doing a triathlon or something," she said.

"There are some days where I’m doing a fight sequence for three days and then at the end of the third day, after I’ve been punching and kicking, then it’s like, ‘Okay, now we’re gonna do this one piece where you’re crying and it’s emotional,’ and you’re like, ‘Whoa. This all feels crazy.’ And it moves so fast and there’s so much that at a certain point, you just sort of have to trust your instincts..."
