To put it in mild terms, a reboot of the celebrated comedy series The Office would be warmly welcomed. Last night's episode of Saturday Night Live saw a handful of actors form The Office join Steve Carell in a mini reunion, and proved that the desire to see a reboot of the show was harbored not only by the show's fans, but by the show's actors as well.
Ellie Kemper, the actress who played the role of Erin Hannon was the first to surprise Carell with discussions about a reboot during his monologue as he hosted the show. “I need that money,” she said told Carell jokingly. “Let’s get that money, Steve!” When Carell kindly declined Kemper's suggestion, she responded, “You’re a jerk!”
The reboot centered jokes continued when Ed Helms, the actor who played Andy Bernard on The Office chimed in and tried to convince Carell of the benefits. “You wouldn’t have to do all those sad movies anymore,” he said in reference to Steve's latest role in the moving drama, Beautiful Boy. Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beesly, then went on to reference a popular scene from the series where her character whispers unheard phrases. She told Carell that she was actually whispering, “Steve, don’t be a dick, do the reboot.” Despite his protests, even Carell's family stood behind his co-stars' sentiments, informing him that the prospect of spending less time together did not bother them at all.
