Disney continues to tug at the heartstrings of our childhoods. The multi-billion dollar media company has brought us live action looks at Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Jungle Bookjust beginning to dive into their classic though, as a live action Aladdin is right around the corner. Slated for a May release, Aladdin will retell the story of the street rat turned prince, and his magic genie.

During Thursday Night Football, in the midst of the Giants getting obliterated by the Eagles, Disney shared a teaser trailer for Aladdin. The brief trailer is mostly comprised of CGI, which reveals how early in post-production the editors must be. Gorgeous shots of a kingdom tucked away in the desert, and a glimpse at the colorful Iago open up the trailer. As Agrabah falls out of sight, the scene switches to Aladdin and Jafar, seen from behind, as they approach the talking Cave of Wonders. The one live-action shot we do get to enjoy comes at the end, as Aladdin (played by Mena Massoud) reaches for the infamous lamp. There's no sign of Will Smith, who will play Genie, but his presence is still auspiciously felt in the final scene. Aladdin lands in theaters on May 24, 2019.
