H.E.R goes back to basics on her new EP.

H.E.R. is back at it again with her 2nd release of 2018, the newly-minted I Used to Know Her: Part 2. The EP sees her move away from the normal parameters of her music, in favour of a more discretionary sound. The result gives her body of work a wider field of complexity. If anything, songs like "Can't Help Me" communicate a desire to go a simpler route.

"Can't Help Me" is produced by the team of Flippa and Jeff Gitelman, the former renown for his contribution to Kendrick Lamar's modern classic To Pimp A Butterfly. The record is noted for a harmony that mimics her voice, caught between a "guitar being strummed," and simple piano chords.

Check out "Can't Help Me" and the remainder of I Used to Know Her: Part 2, while you're at it.

Quotable Lyrics:

Sorry that I've been yelling at your face
I know you hate when I speak to you this way
I lost my patience, losing control
Turned into someone I don't know
I know I got my shit and you got yours too
And all my problems I tried to put on you
I'm singing 'cause I'm done screaming now
I can't blame you for all my doubts.
