Nick Grant hits up Sway's Universe to talk new project and destroy the "Five Fingers Of Death" challenge.

In the ever-extending wave of newcomers, Nick Grant sits on the spectrum of upstarts who make even the most nitpicky of old heads proud, preserving a propensity for lyricism and pure skill in his raps. Last month, the South Carolina-bred emcee dropped off his Dreamin’ Out Loud effort, outfitted with 14 solid tracks and featuring guests spots from the likes of DJ Khaled, Yo Gotti, and D.R.A.M.

While the effort was originally slated for release in 2017, it arrived right on time and most recently he returned to Shade 45 to have a talk with the good folks at Sway’s Universe to discuss the new project and burn off a few calories with his “Five Fingers Of Death” freestyle.

Typically, the "Five Fingers Of Death" segment switches up different beats during an artist’s freestyle while maintaining the same BPM (beats per minute) throughout. But, this time around, Sway Calloway declared that he’d revert back to the original formatting in which the selection of beats aren’t confined to one common BPM. The challenge is one that could trip up even the most skilled of emcees, but Grant took to it naturally as things opened up with Outkast’s ATLiens backdrop beofre transitioning into a host of more beats outside of his domain. He handled it with composure though, and navigated into his truest form when he calmly ripped Lil Kim and Lil Cease’s “Crush On You.”
