Mona Love was on "The Joe Budden Podcast," where she claimed Cardi B got it all wrong about colorism's effect on the entertainment industry.

Cardi B has found herself in the middle of a debate about colorism and the entertainment industry. It all started during a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, when Mona Love brought up the topic of colorism and how certain people are given advantages because of how they look.

Mona referenced an old Cardi B livestream in which the superstar spoke about her come-up. The Joe Budden Podcast co-host made it seem as though Cardi was dismissing the role colorism plays in the industry. Mona relayed how Cardi chalked up her success to hard work and knowing how to market herself. However, as Mona argues, there is a lot more that goes into it.

Cardi B has since issued a response to Mona, claiming that the podcast host completely misrepresented her. The rapper says a 13-second clip was cherry-picked out of a 15-minute livestream from two years ago. She then went on to say that she understands fully the damage colorism has on folks in the industry.

"I know that colorism is real I never denied that I seen it for myself," Cardi wrote. "When I worked in the strip club, I seen how men treated me and how they treated dark skin women… I can never dismiss how colorism affects dark skin women and men in general. Not just in the work place but in the justice system as well. And I have stood up for it plenty of times."

Cardi B Responds To Mona Love

In the second half of her post on X, Cardi B took personal shots at Mona Love. She says Mona had been in her DMs for years, and that some of the messages were about surgeries. It felt like a low blow and ultimately showcases just how frustrated Cardi is about this whole thing.

"Am i upset with Mona?? Yes!! You been in my DMs for years asking me about personal advice… surgery advice.. and career advice," Cardi continued. "If my success is because of my light skin why you asking me how to pitch yourself and how to get brand deals?? We have talked about so many different things and out of all the things we talked about why you couldnt ask me about a 13 second clip you saw from a 15 minute live in 2024 where i addressed everything that you bringing up? You went out your way to make a video with no context when this wasnt even a topic on no blogs and no platforms."

At this time, Mona Love has not issued a response to Cardi B. Although with The Joe Budden Podcast filming multiple episodes a week, we imagine this will be a topic somewhere along the way.
