However, DJ Akademiks believes UMG may have seen Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" diss track against Drake as a two-way opportunity.

The Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle continues to dominate many hip-hop conversations today, despite how exhausting, played-out, and frankly petty these discussions can be. But when it comes to larger conspiracy theories about the entertainment industry coordinating to take Drizzy down, even ardent OVO supporters like DJ Akademiks don't believe it's all that serious.

During a livestream clip caught by CY Chels on Twitter, Akademiks denied notions of industry conspiracies to ruin his career. However, he said UMG may have seen Kendrick's "Not Like Us" diss track as a way to kill two birds with one stone: release a massive hit record and make renegotiations with the 6ix God a bit easier to fall in their favor.

"Every industry came together, 'Let's take down Drake.' That, I don't believe," Ak expressed. "I do believe that Universal, who already has their favorites, I think they saw a clever way to get Drake back under the thumb and also, they were going to rock with a very profitable song for them, which is 'Not Like Us.' Do I think Universal wanted the song to be publicly displayed everywhere? Yes. Does it kill two birds with one stone with them? It brings Drake down a notch a little bit, could help them in negotiation, but also give them free cash over here? Yeah. I agree with that. But if you want me to agree with some Illuminati industry takedown by everybody, it's like, no. If you want me to say that Universal created this beef, or created everything, no. This is two rappers. The choice was between Drake and Dot."

Drake's Next Record Deal

Some fans may express surprise at this take, since DJ Akademiks has been going hard for Drake for a long time. However, he seems to believe in more individual theories about conflict rather than coordinated efforts.

Elsewhere, DJ Akademiks clarified his take on Drake's next deal, saying he's probably going to sign the biggest deal in music history in the near future. However, he walked back claims that he's about to sign a contract. It seems up in the air at the moment, but the OVO mogul could make any situation work.
