Foogiano was released from prison earlier this year, and it's clear his relationship with his former 1017 Records label boss Gucci Mane has soured. After he showed support for fellow former Gucci artist Pooh Shiesty, who's accused of robbing and kidnapping Guwop, he launched various new tracks this week to address the situation. The latest is the fieriest one yet: "The Misunderstood Truth."
The track's last two verses are where the Atlanta rapper takes aim at Gucci for snitching allegations, which he and his loved ones have denied. There are other disses peppered throughout relating to treatment of Shiesty and other 1017 artists, whether it's over a lack of financial backing or support with legal trouble.
Furthermore, this follows Foogiano's previous tracks "Halfway In" and "Halfway Out," which contain more light and less frequent shots at Guwop. The flows are solid and the energy is there too, and we'll see if Gucci Mane responds to any of this.
Elsewhere, the music video for "The Misunderstood Truth" features Foogiano dancing on a 1017 logo, burying a chain from the label, and breaking the logo's ice. It's the latest chapter in a long-running saga, one with a lot of different possible outcomes.
When Is Pooh Shiesty's Trial?
Gucci Mane also recently dropped new music of his own. The album Against All Odds is a flex about his influence, wealth, and legacy, partially combating the narratives against him. Of course, the real event folks keep tabs on is Pooh Shiesty's upcoming trial for the alleged kidnapping and robbery of Guwop. He and eight other codefendants, including rapper Big30, pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
This trial will begin on February 22, 2027, if everything goes according to the current schedule. We will see how that situation plays out and affects the artists close to the situation and collective.
Elsewhere, Big30 continues to proclaim his and his codefendants' innocence while out on bond. As for statements from Shiesty, they've been few and far between given his incarceration. But in the musical world, this conflict within 1017 Records and beyond will persist even after the trial wraps up.
