Drake celebrated his 40th birthday over the weekend, and it appears as though he is using this new year of life to get back to work.

Drake has given his fans a whole lot of music in 2026. In fact, he has dropped nearly 50 songs. These are spread out across his albums, ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR. We also got some "FOMO" songs as part of the HABIBTI Deluxe. Simply put, the megastar has been hard at work as of late.

Over the weekend, Drake got to celebrate his rejuvenated success. It was his 40th birthday, and he celebrated in style out in New York City. All of his best friends were there, and media personalities like DJ Akademiks were also in attendance.

As you can imagine, Akademiks actually got some inside scoops on Drake and what he has planned for next year. During his stream last night, Ak confirmed that new Drake music is, indeed, on the horizon.

Drake is "Sitting On Slaps"

“He’s been cooking up … he said, ‘I’m sitting on some slaps,'" Akademiks confirmed. If you are a Drake fan, this is exactly what you wanted to hear. Moreover, the fact that he said "slaps" seems to suggest that these are going to be rap songs, and not R&B-focused cuts.

ICEMAN was certainly the best of Drake's three new albums, and the reason for that is simple. There was a good mix of hard-hitting bangers and straight-up bar fests. It's the kind of energy that fans had been hoping for since the beef.

If you are a big fan of Drake, then this news is going to be exactly what you wanted to hear. If you're sick of Drake, well, you might want to look away going into next year.
