The rapper's latest lyrics suggest Cordae could be preparing to welcome another child, although he hasn't shared further details.

Raising his daughter in separate homes wasn't the future Cordae envisioned when he and Naomi Osaka started their family. The rapper is now reflecting on their breakup through his music, offering a more personal account of their separation while seemingly revealing that he's preparing to welcome another child.

On "Helpless," a track from his collaborative album Heavy Is the Crown with Anderson .Paak, Cordae addresses the relationship's end and his disappointment over how things unfolded. He also appears to reveal another development in his personal life. "I'm finna have my second child," he raps. The verse suggests Cordae is expecting another baby, though he doesn't name the mother or offer further details. He also reflects on giving his relationship his best effort and struggling with the reality of raising his daughter, Shai, in separate households.

Osaka publicly confirmed their breakup in January 2025 after nearly six years together. At the time, the tennis champion described their separation as amicable and praised Cordae as a father. "No bad blood at all, he's a great person and an awesome dad," she wrote on Instagram.

The former couple welcomed Shai in July 2023, and both have generally kept their family life out of the public eye. Cordae's latest lyrics offer a different perspective from Osaka's brief announcement, particularly about his disappointment that their relationship ended.

Anderson .Paak Also Addresses His Divorce On "Helpless"

Cordae isn't the only artist revisiting personal difficulties on the record. Anderson .Paak discusses the emotional fallout from his marriage to Jaylyn Chang, including the complications of navigating custody arrangements after their separation.

His verse describes the deterioration of trust between former partners and includes a troubling account of arriving intoxicated at a child's birthday celebration. The musician also expresses frustration with how his family circumstances have affected him. The subject is particularly timely for .Paak, whose divorce was finalized in September. He filed to end the marriage in January 2024 after 13 years together.

"Helpless" appears on the 11-track Heavy Is the Crown, released Friday (October 23). The project reunites Cordae and .Paak after several previous collaborations, including "RNP" and "Two Tens."
