Cordae might face a bit of a hurdle ahead of his joint project with Anderson .Paak, which is due out later this month.

Cordae’s facing a major hurdle ahead of his joint project with Anderson .Paak, which is due out next week. According to All Hip Hop, MMMG filed a lawsuit against the rapper and three record labels, including EMPIRE, Apeshit and Mass Appeal, eight days before the release of Heavy Is The Crown. MMMG is seeking to block the release of music it claims falls under an exclusive recording agreement dating back to April 2018. According to the company, the "Crossroads" rapper remains contractually obligated to record exclusively for its label and never obtained permission to release the disputed material.

The lawsuit specifically identifies the single for the album, “A Good Day,” that was released last month as an alleged violation of that agreement. MMMG is also challenging the planned October 23 rollout of Heavy Is The Crown, which is being released through APESHIT + EMPIRE / Hi Level + Mass Appeal.

In addition, MMMG claims that Cordae “refuses to pay MMMG its contractual share of the revenues.” They claimed that he’s kept their share of revenue from merch, touring, and other work.

Cordae Sued Over Contract

MMMG also explained how they connected with STEM after their deal with Atlantic ended in 2025. In that period, the contract allowed a six-month window to find a new distributor but they argue that the STEM deal kept his contract alive while Cordae’s lawyers pushed back on whether the deal met the terms of the contract.

MMMG is currently seeking $5M for “Good Day,” or some form of compensation for damages, based on copyright law. Then, they asked for $15M for breach of contract, and another $5M from the labels for allegedly being part of the breach.
