Offset made some headlines on Friday as his album, GMFU, was not released to the public. He had previously said the album would be coming out on October 23. However, when the clock struck midnight, the project was nowhere to be found.
Leading up to the release date, we got the single "Every Night" with Don Toliver. That said, Offset halted his promotional efforts otherwise. Going into Thursday night's slate of new releases, there was uncertainty surrounding the album. In the end, the skepticism proved to be justified.
On Friday evening, Offset provided fans with an update on the project. According to the artist, the album is now going to be released on November 13. This announcement was accompanied by footage of the artist in the studio with OsamaSon and ApolloRed1.
Offset's New Album Gets Delayed
These upcoming collaborations are certainly interesting for Offset. For those who may not know, ApolloRed1 is an artist on Playboi Carti's Opium imprint and remains part of the underground. OsamaSon is another underground artist who seems poised for mainstream adoration in the near future.
If Offset is working with these artists, then that means he is looking to take his sound to a new demographic. We can only imagine what kind of rage tracks he has in store working with the youth.
It's an exciting prospect, and if you are an Offset fan, you have to appreciate his willingness to evolve. At this time, we don't have the exact reason behind the album delay. One could extrapolate that Offset is simply trying his best to put out the best product possible for his fanbase.
Whatever the case may be, we're looking forward to the album.
