An old feud resurfaced at ComplexCon when Chet Hanks pressed Eric André over comments dating back to his 2023 show appearance.

ComplexCon already had enough disorder to keep social media busy all weekend, from crowd swarms to a serious altercation outside the Los Angeles Convention Center that left multiple people injured. Somewhere in the middle of all that, an old celebrity grudge found its way back into circulation. Chet Hanks spotted Eric André at the event and apparently decided three years was long enough to wait for a face-to-face conversation.

Video shared by Hanks shows him approaching André from behind and grabbing him by the shoulder before the encounter quickly turns tense. André initially appears cordial, but his expression changes as Hanks confronts him about comments the comedian made after appearing on The Eric André Show. According to TMZ, André repeatedly seemed confused about what Hanks was referring to before eventually walking away with security.

Hanks had a different interpretation. In the caption accompanying the video, he claimed André had “NO MEMORY WHATSOEVER” of criticizing him publicly. Their argument eventually turned into another longstanding controversy over Hanks’ use of a Jamaican accent and accusations that he was mocking Caribbean culture.

Chet Hanks And Eric André Never Really Settled Their First Fight

After filming The Eric André Show in 2023 with Hanks, André told Rolling Stone that the former rapper had “broke our crew” and accused him of behaving dangerously on set. André said Hanks rode a motorcycle around the production area and nearly knocked crew members from ladders.

Hanks never disputed riding the bike, but he strongly disputed André’s characterization of what happened. In his response, he said he had watched the show before filming and decided to “match that energy.” As The Independent reported, Hanks argued that he knew how to ride and had only popped a wheelie before putting the bike down. He then accused André of being upset because Hanks had “outshined” him on his own program.

That disagreement never developed into anything resembling a reconciliation, which became obvious at ComplexCon. Hanks approached the encounter as unfinished business, while André appeared to treat the underlying dispute as something he either did not remember or did not intend to revisit there. The two never reached much of a resolution before security moved André along.

However, André reportedly managed to get one final word in as he left Hanks behind with his friends, shouting something about Tom Hanks as security escorted him away. Whatever he said was difficult to make out, but dragging Chet’s famous father into their feud has precedent. Back in 2023, after Hanks called him out on Instagram, André joked that Chet should take a DNA test to prove Tom Hanks was his father. Three years later, apparently some material still has legs.
