Kai Cenat addressed the Yeezy comparisons surrounding Vivet, and his answer might surprise people who expected him to get defensive.

Kai Cenat is finally addressing the Yeezy comparisons surrounding Vivet. Ever since the brand's first collection hit the runway, people online have said it looks too familiar.

Kai didn't get defensive about it. He said the first collection is a reflection of his own life. You can see the things that inspired him, from his childhood to where he is now. His main point is that you can look at the pieces and "see what Kai likes."

The comparisons started right around the New York Fashion Week debut. Fans pointed to the muted colors, oversized fits, and distressed finishes. Some called it Yeezy cosplay, and others took issue with the prices.

This is certainly something Kai saw coming, as he's incredibly tuned into the internet. Still, he launched Vivet and continues to pursue his dream, which is admirable, of course.

It is also very much worth noting that Kanye West stopped by the Vivet booth at ComplexCon, and Complex reported that he and Kai shared a moment. That's a notable scene for a brand that's less than a year old.

The comparisons aren't going away anytime soon. Vivet's first collection has 20 pieces, with prices from $20 to $1,195. It includes hoodies, leather, boots, loafers, and more. A creator launching a line at that scale will get every piece picked apart.

Still, the early signs are positive. The brand's first-ever pop-up drew a crowd at ComplexCon, and celebrities like Savannah James stopped by. We covered Kai Cenat's Vivet ComplexCon pop-up earlier this week.

Kai also ties Vivet to his Trinidadian and Haitian roots, and he's building it independently. His personal angle is a big part of the inspiration. Every designer takes cues from somewhere. What matters is whether Vivet builds its own identity over time. The next collection will be a big test, and Kai clearly isn't worried about the critics.
