On Tuesday (September 22), Kanye West attended the street renaming ceremony declaring East 78th Street in Chicago as "Dr. Donda West Way." Ye pulled the cover off the sign himself after interrupting 7th Ward Alderman Greg Mitchell, paying tribute to his late mother and all she did for the city as an educator. While many folks found the moment heartening, this rubbed Peter Rosenberg the wrong way.
During yesterday's (Thursday, September 24) episode of The Ebro, Laura, Rosenberg Show, the commentator said it was "effing weird" and pushed back on an off-camera producer who said, "Oh, come on... It's his mom, bro," as caught by CY Chels on Twitter. Rosenberg characterized it as a booking issue, but Laura Stylez and Ebro Darden were more understanding. However, Ebro suggested it reflects a pattern of interruption, whereas Peter clarified Donda absolutely deserves the honor.
Then, the cohosts got into Peter Rosenberg's past criticisms of Kanye West, which recently manifested as a call-out to everyone quick to forgive the Chicago artist's controversies and bigotries amid his successful shows. Rosenberg admitted he was focusing on the wrong thing, but lamented how, in his view, Kanye West is always inserting himself in situations in abnormal ways. "I'm sorry that her son turned out to be so weird and disappointing on so many occasions," he added.

Darden argued Ye has always been like this, so it's not worth making a fuss out of, if you believe there's a fuss to begin with. Rosenberg brought up Kanye's previous Donald Trump support to point out his perception of similarities between the two in this regard.
Later, Peter said Ye is still an "amazing artist" despite his issues with him. Ebro pushed back on his criticism by positing Rosenberg would do the same if it was his mother receiving a street name in her honor. But they both seemed to laugh at the notion, with Rosenberg adding Kanye's age into the mix as a point of criticism.
Elsewhere, Ebro and Peter Rosenberg are facing other Ye-related debates. For example, Kid Cudi called Ebro out after he spoke on a conversation they had about the Yeezy mogul.
