Houston clubgoers caught Drake making an unexpected appearance at Area 29, where the rapper has been spotted before.

A Sunday night at Houston’s Area 29 came with an unexpected walk-through when Drake pulled up to the popular strip club without warning. Videos from Sept. 20 showed the rapper making his way through the venue as people around him reacted to the surprise appearance. Complex reported that one of the circulating clips came from Erick Roberts, who captured Drake walking through the back of the club and raising his hands as “Welcome home” appeared across the video.

The reception tracks with Drake’s long-running connection to Houston, a city he has referenced throughout his career and visited regularly. Area 29 is already among the local spots that have hosted him before, so the latest appearance doubled as something of a return.

Area 29 Has Hosted Drake Before

This was not his first late-night stop at the club. Complex noted that Drake visited Area 29 in October 2024, when footage circulated of him tossing money toward dancers. Other clips from that night showed performers holding large stacks of cash after his appearance.

His latest Houston outing arrived days after the release of FOMO, the hour-long visual project Drake premiered on Sept. 15. The film mixed previously released music with new material and appearances from several familiar faces. One of those new records was “Quebec,” which received a full video following the FOMO premiere. The visual features Drake alongside Cam’ron’s famous pink Jeep while showing off pieces from his jewelry collection.

For all the activity surrounding the project, Sunday’s Area 29 appearance appeared much less formal. There was no announced performance or promotional event attached to the stop, just another unexpected Houston visit from an artist who has treated the city like a second home for much of his career.
