Initially announced in 2022, the movie is rumored to be titled “Whitney Springs.”

It looks like we don’t have an actual timeline for either an album or a movie from Kendrick Lamar. If you recall, the GNX rapper’s company, pgLang, announced that they were working alongside the creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, on a movie that’s reportedly titled Whitney Springs

Despite expectations for it to be out last year, the movie isn’t complete, according to The Ankler. It also isn’t shelved, as some might expect after numerous delays and few updates, especially as reports claim that Paramount committed upward of $100 million to the project. In 2024, Brian Robbins, the former head of Paramount Pictures, described the movie as “one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read.”

The movie was due out in theatres in July 2025 but then got pushed back in March of that year ahead of the Paramount-Skydance merger. But by November 2025, the March 2026 release date was removed from the release schedule entirely. While people might be quick to blame Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free, both of whom serve as producers on the film, Matt Stone and Trey Parker said they are to blame for the delay.

South Park Creators Issue Statement

“We take full responsibility for the schedule delay of this movie,” Stone and Parker said in a statement to The Ankler. “We apologize to our partners at pgLang and Paramount, and we appreciate their patience. South Park and life’s circumstances have gotten in the way, but we still believe in the project.”

The movie centers on a young Black reenactor who works at a historical slave plantation museum in the Midwest and eventually has issues with tourists who visit, along with the town’s racist mayor, who is played by Parker and was described as “the epitome of the Republican Party,” by a source. The film reportedly includes unreleased music from Kendrick Lamar.
