NBA YoungBoy is currently in a marriage with Jazlyn Mychelle, but previous relationships are coming back up thanks to resurfaced security camera footage. A video uploaded by AntiGlomar on YouTube shows him pushing his then-partner Jania Meshell to the ground and dragging her around in a hotel hallway back in 2018. This resurfaced clip, which is more clear than previous leaks, elicited a response from YB's lawyer on the case, Jimmy Manasseh.
For those unaware, YoungBoy avoided jail time over this situation in 2019. He initially faced aggravated assault and kidnapping charges, but a plea deal saw him plead guilty to misdemeanor simple battery family violence. Also, the Baton Rogue rapper reportedly paid a $1,500 fine and received a 12-month probation sentence.
His lawyer Jimmy Manasseh addressed this resurfaced video in a statement to TMZ. "It was a misdemeanor matter, resolved nearly 10 years ago. I don't think [it's a big deal]," he reportedly expressed. "I believe she requested to drop charge. He was on probation in East Baton Rouge and he was not revoked because of it."
Meshell had reportedly claimed the two were just toying around in her request to have the big charges dropped, but many fans are understandably not giving the rapper any grace. We'll see if he responds to this in the near future or lets the past be the past.
NBA YoungBoy Hotel Footage
A lot of fans reacting to this footage compared it to the Diddy situation. Hotel security footage also showed him assaulting his then-partner Cassie, and there's a lot of criticism in YB's direction over this.
But these days, NBA YoungBoy's far away from any legal trouble, at least in the United States. He recently revealed to Funny Marco that he's now living in South Korea, a decision that shocked many fans. There could be a lot of different factors to it, namely the pressures of fame and minimizing the turbulence that comes with it.
Elsewhere, we'll see if Jania Meshell speaks out amid this resurfaced footage, which fans have been outraged by online. While the lawyer downplayed the situation, it's not absolving the artist of blame or making folks look at the situation differently.
