Ah, Gucci Mane. One of the most controversial figures in Atlanta hip-hop, his extracurricular activities and legal struggles often overshadow his actual music, especially when he's wylin' out on Twitter for the whole world to see. But unpredictable and frustrating as he sometimes is, GuWop is currently sitting atop an ATLien empire, even while behind bars.

Though we still haven't gotten "The Gucci Mane Movie" that the rapper's frequently mentioned in his songs since 2009's The State Vs. Radric Davis, a book may be on the way. Though Gucci's currently 11 months through a recently-mandated 39 month jail sentence, he (or one of his associates) tweeted that he is "writing a novel about [his] life."

Gucci Mane may be behind bars but that doesn't stop him from raking in the dough. So how exactly does he do it? Noisey decided to find out and they got in touch with Ronald “Caveman” Rosario (AKA Gucci's "Money Guy" and co-executive producer for his The State vs. Radric Davis II: The Caged Bird Sings) who told us, basically, that Gucci has a large amount of material already recorded and loaded in the barrel.

Gucci Mane was arrested in September for gun and marijuana possession, and has since been since spending his time at a county jail in Georgia. We've not heard any updates on when he'll see release, but one man believes he's made breakthrough in the case. Jerry Lewis Dedrick, a 51-year-old prisoner who is currently serving time at Williamsburg federal prison (NOT the same facility Gucci's been doing his bid), has filed a motion he feels will prove the rapper's innocence.

On paper, hip-hop and opera seem like completely different styles of music, but many producers have shown us otherwise. Using dramatic, often high-pitched vocal samples, they add a theatrical element to rap tracks. The vocals can come from samples of actual operas or, more commonly, presets on synths or keyboards, and they've been used by everyone from Three 6 Mafia to RiFF RAFF to Tech N9ne.

The inspiration rappers have drawn from comic book characters over the years is undeniable, whether it be superheroes, villains or relatively normal protagonists who happen to find themselves in extraordinary circumstances. Some have even created comic books based on fictionalized versions of themselves, most notably the Wu-Tang Clan as a whole as well as individual members Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, RZA and GZA.

Keeping Gucci Mane out of the headlines is no easy task. Once again he’s back, although this time with the release of his digital album The State Vs. Radric Davis II: The Caged Bird Sings.  While the rapper is surrounded by mounting legal problems, he's nonetheless found the time to keep his fans fed with this Christmas day release. As with most Gucci projects, the production on The State Vs. Radric Davis II is a strong point. Heat from Atlanta beatsmiths Honorable C-Note, Zaytoven, and Mike WiLL Made It make the album an easy listen.
