In a recent interview with Hot 107.9, Tyrese Gibson claimed that he married his ex-wife Norma Gibson strictly for her to get a green card and keep her in the United States.
"Now I could say to [Norma], 'Listen. Norma, I love you. I appreciate you. I appreciate what we did. We had an angel but I married you to keep you in the country. I never married you because I was happily married. You're from London. I married you because we had a baby on the way and I had to do whatever I had to do so that I'm not travelling all the way to London to spend quality time with my baby'," he said.
Tyrese's claim came after the very public court dealings he and Norma dealt with surrounding custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla.
Page Six now reports that the actor's claim about his marriage to Norma is false. Adding that Tyrese attempted to get back together with her before he tied the knot with his current wife, Samantha Lee Gibson.
“He’s lying as always,” a source close to Norma tells the publication, on her behalf. “He tried to get her back before he was engaged … He’s furious she wouldn’t come back to him.”
