Sacramento rapper Mozzy is low key having a monster year in 2017 so far. Having linked up with Blac Youngsta for a 11-track mixtape back in May called Cant Fake The Real, and following that up with a joint project with Florida rapper Gunplay called Dreadlocks & Headshots back in June, the Sacramento rapper has kept fans’ playlists loaded with plenty of new music, and he’s still not done giving it away. At the stroke of midnight, Mozzy decides to release a new album called 1 Up Top Ahk.
Containing 16 tracks in total, the follow up to Dreadlocks & Headshots features guest appearances from Boosie Badazz, Jay Rock, Dave East, Lil Durk, YFN Lucci, Bobby Luv, Rexx Life Raj, June, E Mozzy, and more. Meanwhile, production is handled by the likes of JuneOnnaBeat, Dave-O (executive producer), & Daniel Cruz among others.
“Everything went into this project.” Mozzy said. “The whole embodiment of me. Just me. I poured everything up and gave my struggles, love, everything is in this project. It’s really me. This is the project that represents my environment. I’ve been working on this motherfucker forever. I’ve taken my time and catered to it,” he says.
“I don’t really make music for my fans or people who listen to me. I make music for me. And this project, it touched my soul. Straight up. I don’t give a fuck if it doesn’t sell one copy. It’s a project with feelings. This motherfucker is alive, it has a heart, it actually breathes, it’s a living thing. It’s crazy. It’s my everything. It’s my baby. I’m vulnerable.”
