In anticipation of Kid Cudi's "Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin," revisit the Cleveland kid's 2008 classic "Dat New New."

December 2016 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting months in recent hip-hop history. Eight days in, we've already gotten a new album from John Legend, a polarizing funk LP from Childish Gambino, and the highly anticipated Hamilton Mixtape. On top of all that, we're still awaiting 4 Your Eyez Only from J. ColeMore Life from Drizzy Drake, and perhaps the most exciting, Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' from the one-and-only Kid Cudi. It's dropping digitally on December 16.

For one reason or another, dat kid from Cleveland is currently at his most beloved in the public eye since he came out with the Man On The Moon albums. Mr. Solo Dolo has had a tough year, but coupled with the incredible cuts he's been dropping recently, people are really ready to hear a new LP from Kid Cudi. And when you're getting ready for some new music from Cudi, there's only one track that does the feeling justice.

"Dat New New" was a 2008 throwaway track from Cudi released via Fool's Gold Records that's way too good to be anyone's throwaway. As an ode to the new movement in hip-hop Cudi was undoubtedly leading, this track has aged incredibly well. Kid Cudi changed the game, and we know that now for sure. And if you don't know, now you know, Cudder.

Quotable Lyrics

Salutations my niggas, I'm aware that I'm different
You can still keep it hood, while you smokin just listen
It don't matter your race, just take a blunt to the face
And we all gon rock, gotta keep up the pace
