Twitter's blue checkmark may not mean a whole lot anymore.

If any of you guys wanted to make your Twitter account official the social media platform is looking to make the process easier for you. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey spoke about the process during a Periscope Livestream noting how the company plans to make any user become verified.

“The intention is to open verification to everyone,” Jack said, The Verge reports. “And to do it in a way that’s scalable, where [Twitter] is not in the way and people can verify more facts about themselves and we don’t have to be the judge or imply any bias on our part.”

The exact ways Twitter plan to do this was not disclosed, but looking at other platforms such as Airbnb and how users must submit a government-issued photo, Facebook profile, and phone number, it may be what Twitter is looking to also do.

“The main problem is, we use [the checkmark] to mean identity,” Twitter director of product David Gasca said. “But in user research ... users think of it as credibility, [that] Twitter stands behind this person and what they’re saying is great and authentic, which is not what we meant.”

Without a doubt, this could cause some major confusion to be had if the process to be verified becomes too easy. Just recently we posted on Kim Kardashian "making calls" to get an unofficial, yet verified, Yeezy account to loose the blue checkmark.
