DJ Crazy Toones Passes Away; Hip-Hop Community Reacts

Many West Coast greats pay their respect to the passing of DJ Crazy Toones.

Hip Hop is mourning the loss of another one its West Coast greats today. Famed producer DJ Crazy Toones passed away Monday due to a reported heart attack his publicist Chad Kiser confirmed. He was 45 years young.

Born Lamar Dupré Calhoun, DJ Crazy Toones was the brother to WC and Coolio in WC & The Maad Circle. Breaking out on the scene in the early 90’s, Toones worked closely with Coolio, Kurupt, Xhibit, Snoop Dogg, Mack 10 and more and had ties to Westside Connection and Lench Mob Records. His most recent gig was being Ice Cube‘s official tour DJ.

Many from the hip-hop community have already took to social media to pay their condolences, including Ice Cube, Ice-T, Immortal Technique, Alchemist, Mack 10, DJ Z-Trip, Kokane, Cypress Hill, and DJ Premier. (See all the heartfelt tweets below)
