All you Stranger Things fans can rejoice since the Duffer Brothers who created the series have revealed that the third season is currently in the works.
The news comes as no surprise since we recently posted that in the first 72 hours of season's two premiere, episode one averaged an incredible 15.8 million U.S. viewers on the Netflix streaming service. Once the hype balanced out and fans began their binge-watching, each of the nine episodes averaged 4 million viewers.
“We are [in] very early days on season three and we’re still figuring it out,” Ross Duffer said on a panel during Vulture Festival LA, via Deadline. “I probably wasn’t supposed to say that. That’s not official, that wasn’t an official announcement — we’re just working on it, just for our own amusement…for fun!”
Offical or not, we'll take it as a good sign since the brothers couldn't possibly leave us hanging wondering about the last episodes ending of going into the Upside Down and the revelation of Eleven's "sister," Kali. Matt Duffer admitted that it only makes sense to explore her introduction to the show and her side of growing up with powers.
“It feels weird to me that we wouldn’t solve [Kali’s] storyline,” Matt said. “I would say chances are very high she comes back.”
This isn't the first time the brothers have dished on the upcoming season happenings, as we posted before they said they are "really excited about giving these characters an interesting journey to go on."
The topic of the young actors growing up in real life and making their physical changes match the show was raised, where the brothers said they are working on making everything fit cohesively.
“We are leaning into it,” Matt said. “I love the fact that they’re going through adolescence,” describing teenage years as "a very dramatic part of your life, and drama is good! So I think it’s good it forces the show to evolve."
