When you receive a follow or re-tweet from a verified user on Twitter you instantly check out their account because you assume they must be 'somebody' since they've been verified to have that blue check mark.

As of yesterday, Twitter will be changing the whole process of becoming a standout user, since the company believes that verifying an account has made people think they endorse its content.

In a series of tweets, the official support service for the platform states how this issue should have been addressed a long time ago. They admit the process worsened after July 2016 when they allowed users to request to get a verified account. Read the thread below.

More tweets reveal that Twitter will be removing any verification from accounts "whose behavior does not fall within" the platform's guidelines.

Twitter's move to review all accounts associated with a verification comes after much criticism since Jason Kessler, the white supremacist who organized the United the Right rally in Charlottesville, got a blue checkmark. Although his verification has been removed, it's safe to say this new plan will better the content that's tweeted out daily.

For any and all who have sent in an application for verification, you may have to hold tight a little longer.
