Twitter Reacts to Emmys' Exclusion of Stars From In Memoriam Tribute

While the 2017 Emmy Awards was host to quite a few feats for diversity and a lean and far from overdone lineup, it did manage to suffer a few blunders, most notably in its “In Memoriam” tribute in which a few moments are taken to honor the memories of fallen members within the relevant realm of entertainment.

Among honorees, the Television Acadmey paid tribute to the likes of Alan Thicke, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, and Zsa Zsa Gabor to name a few, but failed to recognize some other deceased stars, some of which were blatantly obvious. These included comedians and actors Dick Gregory and Charlie Murphy, actress Erin Moran, Frank Vincent, Harry Dean Stanton, and Emmy-nominated musician Al Jarreau among a handful of others.

In the cases of Vincent and Stanton, their omission is just a bit understandable as Frank passed away last week and Harry died just a couple of days ago, which could mean that the show did not have anough time to update the presentation. However, the omission of Murphy and Gregory who passed on in April and August of this year, respectively, is kind of unjustifiable.

Naturally, Twitter would never fail to remind us of this glaring mistake, and many stepped onto the social medium to call out the awards show and pay respects of their own. Check out a few reactionsbelow.
