ESPN Suspends Jemele Hill For Violating Social Media Guidelines

Jemele Hill, co-host of ESPN's "SC:6," has been suspended for two weeks for "a second violation of ESPN's social media guidelines."

ESPN apparently decided to suspend Hill for her criticism of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who had said that he'd bench player who "disrespected" the flag. Jones told reporters, per ESPN,

"If there's anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play," Jones said after the Cowboys' 35-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers. "Understand? We will not ... if we are disrespecting the flag, then we will not play. Period."

Some of Hill's tweets include the following. 

Hill took to twitter this afternoon to clarify her comments, tweeting, "Just so we're clear: I'm not advocating a NFL boycott. But an unfair burden has been put on players in Dallas & Miami w/ anthem directives." She added, "If fans really are that upset about what JJ & Stephen Ross have done, don't call the players sellouts, but you're watching every Sunday."

Shortly after those tweets today, ESPN issued a statement regarding Hill's two-week suspension.

Jemele Hill received backlash last month for tweets about President Trump. In a series of tweets, Hill called Trump a white supremacist who surrounds himself with other white supremacists, and the most offensive president of her lifetime. At the time, ESPN released a statement saying Hill's comments did not represent the position of ESPN. 

While she was widely criticized for those comments she also received a ton of support from Colin Kaepernick, Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union, Reggie Miller, Steve Nash, Snoop Dogg and many others.
