XXXTentacion may be known for his confusing and controversial actions. However, his latest album has proven that he’s not just the “Look At Me!” rapper and he’s capable of much more. Billboard has now confirmed that X has hit another peak in his Billboard 100 career with a stand-out cut off of 17.
XXXTentacion’s “Jocelyn Flores” is now sitting at number 31 on the Billboard 100. It’s another feat for the Florida rapper who’s viral anthem “Look At Me” only reached 34 during it’s peak and was the only song prior to the release of his album to be on the Billboard 100. While “Look At Me” never made it’s way to the top 10, despite how much play it received, it did recently become certified platinum by finally moving a million units thusfar. Along with “Jocelyn Flores,” X currently also has seven other songs charting on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart including a few off of 17. His collaboration with Kodak Black “Roll In Peace,” as well as “Everybody Dies In Their Nightmares”, “Revenge”, “Save Me”, “Carry On”, the Trippie Red-assisted “Fuck Love” and “Depression & Obsession” have all found their way on the Billboard 100.
X’s latest album seemed to grab many people by surprise. 17 has exceeded what many expected to be delivered from the Broward County rapper. On top of that, he’s also received some pretty solid co-signs from some of our favorite rappers in the game. Kendrick Lamar, Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert are among the rappers that have had some high acclaim for XXXTENTACION.
Aside from the rappers, X has been receiving a lot of love nonetheless. X’s 17 moved 85,739 units in it’s first week of sales. Among the hype, his album dropped on the same day as Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv Is Rage 2, A$AP Mob’s Cozy Tapes Vol. 2 and Action Bronson’s Blue Chips 7000. While he may still be an underdog, his album sold more than both the Mob and Bronson.
17 has proven to be an incredible piece of work top to bottom and clearly with the amount of commercial and critical acclaim it’s been receiving, X has a lengthy career in front of him.
