This year's edition of Tariq Cherif & Matt Zingler's Rolling Loud festival drew some of the game's biggest artists, including Lil Wayne, Future, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and A$AP Rocky. It even led to Lil Uzi Vert's notorious "rock-star" jump, which found the divisive rapper partaking in some death-defying stunts. Suffice it to say, there's no denying that Rolling Loud is hip-hop's quintessential festival. Luckily, the movement is about to go global.
It was recently announced that the generally Miami-based festival will be expanding to California (Bay Area and Southern California), China, Japan, and the United Kingdom. In a press release about the announcement, co-founder Tariq Cherif said: "Rolling Loud is the #1 hip-hop festival in the world. After selling out three consecutive years in a row in Miami, it's time to take the Rolling Loud experience on the road. Rap music is the most popular and fastest growing genre of music, and the world deserves to experience curated lineups of its champions."
While the expansion promises a wider reach for Rolling Loud, Zingler promises that each region will remain true to its artistic roots. Not only that, he also confirms that Miami will remain the flagship show: "Each show will feature a different assortment of hip-hop's biggest superstars as well as underground heavyweights. Miami will remain as our home and premier event as we establish the Rolling Loud brand around the world."
Overall, it's a good look for hip-hop fans when the genre's biggest festival starts getting worldwide recognition.
