They were last publicly seen together at a Grammys event celebrating Julie Greenwald and Craig Kallman in Los Angeles.
"Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple," said an insider. Rumors recently circulated that Lavigne and Tyga were linked romantically after they were spotted getting close together while dining out with one another. The source for PEOPLE says that they are just friends: "Avril and Tyga are genuinely friends and nothing more. There was absolutely no third party involved in the split."

A rep for Mod Sun addressed the situation in a statement provided to PEOPLE. "They were together and engaged as of three days ago when Mod left for tour so if anything has changed that's news to him. The couple's relationship was recently the topic of a song on Mod's latest album, God Save the Teen. The project released earlier this month.
