Following a lengthy battle targeting Dame Dash for sexual assault, the record executive has finally been cleared from the lawsuit. Dash won't walk free however and owes photographer Monique Bunn $30,000 in defamation damages. Bunn had initially reported the Roc-A-Fella co-founder for assaulting her in 2019. According to HipHopDX, the photographer was sleeping over at Dash's house following a video shoot when he had allegedly touched her inappropriately. Reportedly, Bunn was seeking millions of dollars in total damages.
When describing the incident, Bunn recalled awakening to “something on the left side of my like lower back onto my butt, down my thigh.” At the time, she was asleep in Dash's daughter's room. Dash denied Bunn's claim, calling it "ridiculous" and referring to the photographer as a "con artist." He accused Bunn of spending thousands of dollars on his credit card without his knowledge. In addition to denying Dash's claims, Bunn added defamation to her list of charges against the entrepreneur. She also claimed that he never returned to her a significant amount of photos, which Dash also was cleared of in court.
Dash To Pay $30,000
The four-day trial concluded on February 15th, with the jury ruling in favor of Dash. Although Dash no longer has to worry about the sexual assault allegations, he does owe Bunn for the defamation case. This is Dash's second defamation case within the last year. In 2022, director Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures sued Dash over Dear Frank. The prosecutors claimed that the 51-year-old businessman had shopped for the movie by himself after being dismissed from the project for always being high on set. The total damages of that case amounted to over $800,000.
As for Bunn, her reflection on the case is optimistic. “Thankful to the jury for the result on my defamation claim,” she stated, adding in that she is “pleased I can move forward.” The hip-hop mogul, on the other hand, has nearly escaped another hefty penalty. Bunn's legal team told AllHipHop that they plan on ensuring the collection of all her monies due. “Yet again, the Court and the jury system has proven it will not tolerate Mr. Dash’s violations of the law," said Christopher Brown of Brown and Rosen LLC.
