Georgia police arrested Playboi Carti in late December after his girlfriend accused him of assaulting her. However, his lawyer pushed back in a statement regarding the arrest. Per TMZ, police booked Carti for an alleged assault that occurred in late December. The rapper allegedly pushed his pregnant girlfriend and choked her to the point where she felt she may have died. Police booked the rapper on felony aggravated assault after she called authorities.

Police said that his girlfriend told the police that she and Carti have dated for two years, though she moved in with him in July 2022. She explained that the two began arguing over a paternity test, which escalated quickly into physical violence. In the report, she said she was 14 weeks pregnant at the time of the alleged assault, which occurred on Dec. 20th, 2022. Jail records obtained by Complex confirm that police booked and released the rapper in late December.

Playboi Carti’s Lawyer Responds To Allegations

The woman explained that she met with the Whole Lotta Red rapper to discuss her pregnancy but that turned into an argument. During the physical altercation, a witness allegedly tried to help her and break the fight up, allowing her to escape. However, once she got to her car, she said he attacked her again. Carti allegedly pulled her out of the vehicle, putting his hand over her mouth when she tried to use the S.O.S feature to call the cops. Police confirmed that they discovered visible injuries on her neck, chest, and back when they got to the scene.

In addition to the aggravated assault charge, online records show that police also booked him on hindering persons from making an emergency telephone call. Brian Steel, the attorney for the rapper, said the charges won't stick. Furthermore, he said Carti faces false accusations in this case. “Mr. Carter was falsely accused,” Steel told TMZ in a statement. “Pursuant to my communications with the Fulton County District Attorney‘s office, this case will be dismissed without any prosecution or litigation."
