Logic had kept his output slow and steady for much of the year, delivering two hard singles, "Flexicution" and "Wrist," the latter a surprising foray into trap with Pusha T. Though he's probably hard at work on the official follow-up to last year's The Incredible True Story, it turns out that those two tracks were slated for a new mixtape, Bobby Tarantino, which came out last night totally out of the blue. Thus far, fans are enjoying just about every one of the tape's 11 tracks, but one particular standout that deserves highlighting is "The Jam."
It sounds like Logic is approaching Summer '16 with a chip on his shoulder, as everything he's dropping seems to be heavier and more aggressive than usual. "The Jam" begins with the hook, on which Logic tries out a trap-inspired singing flow, and he proceeds to go extra hard on his verses, inspired by the adrenaline of 6ix's bass-heavy production. He vows to take his movement beyond Ye and Jay while promising to always move independently. He also hypes up his upcoming album, which should be even better than Bobby Tarantino...a scary thought.
