Diddy is currently working on the sequel to his 1997 debut album. After that, it will be the end of a historic career, as the Bad Boy CEO has confirmed that No Way Out 2 will be his final project, after the release of which he plans to retire from making music. Gizzle, the artist/producer who rapped alongside Diddy and Ty Dolla $ign on the MMM track "You Could Be My Lover," had originally revealed that No Way Out 2 would be Diddy's last album in an interview last summer, and her word has now been confirmed by Diddy himself, via his new cover story in Cigar Aficionado magazine.
"I'm going to put out my last album and devote 100 percent of my time to doing films," Diddy told the magazine. His musical career won't be quite over after his final album, however, as he also spoke on his plans to do a world tour after the release of No Way Out 2: "I want to take a victory lap, to do a world tour and really enjoy it one last time."
"I know that I'm making music that will live on," said Diddy of his musical legacy. "Michael Jackson, Tupac, Biggie -- part of them lives on in their music, even though they're not here anymore," he added. "That's really deep, man. The only thing like that is religion."
News of Puffy's imminent retirement will be disappointing to fans considering the strength of MMM, released in November. No Way Out 2 doesn't yet have a release date, but hopefully it'll be even better. It's unclear if, by saying goodbye to music, he will also discontinue his role as a label executive. His 18-year-old son Christian signed to Bad Boy earlier this month. Next month, Diddy will host two Bad Boy reunion concerts in Brooklyn.
